Jihan Wu

Jihan Wu is a Chinese entrepreneur and investor who is best known as the co-founder of Bitmain Technologies, a leading manufacturer of cryptocurrency mining hardware
Jihan Wu was born on June 11, 1986, in China's Fujian province.
At Peking University in Beijing, China, Wu pursued his undergraduate education in the fields of economics and psychology. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009. After receiving his degree, he began his career in the financial industry by taking positions as a private equity fund manager and an investment analyst for a real estate company.
In 2013, Wu discovered Bitcoin and became fascinated with its potential to disrupt the financial industry. He started mining Bitcoin with a few friends using their own personal computers. However, he quickly realized that mining Bitcoin required specialized hardware and that the market for Bitcoin mining equipment was underserved. This led him to co-found Bitmain Technologies in 2013.
Bitmain quickly became the world's largest manufacturer of cryptocurrency mining hardware while Wu was at the helm. Bitmain's products include the Antminer line of mining machines, which are used by cryptocurrency miners around the world.
In addition to his work at Bitmain, Wu has also invested in a number of other companies that are involved in the cryptocurrency industry. He is a co-founder of Matrixport, a company that is in the financial services industry and offers a variety of financial products and services, including cryptocurrency trading and custody services. Additionally, he acts in the capacity of advisor to a number of other blockchain startups.
Because of his accomplishments with Bitmain, Wu is now considered to be one of the most wealthy people in the cryptocurrency industry. In 2018, his net worth was estimated to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.5 billion by Forbes.
However, Wu's time at Bitmain has not been free from controversies during his tenure there. In 2019, he was removed from his role as CEO due to a power struggle that he was having with Micree Zhan. Because of this, a legal dispute over who should control the company ensued, which was finally resolved in the year 2020.
In spite of these obstacles, Wu continues to be a well-known figure in the cryptocurrency industry, and he remains a staunch supporter of the widespread implementation of Bitcoin and other blockchain technologies.
